Course aim

So you’ve mastered basic smartphone video. Now you want the next step up.  The emphasis of this course is on helping videographers extend and deepen their editing skills. This one-day intermediate level workshop focuses on editing video on your smartphone using the latest advanced editors, such as Kinemaster and LumaFusion.

 

Who should attend

Comms and digital content practitioners who are ready to move up from basic editors. Those seeking a conversion path into mobile video production from traditional camcorder and desktop-based technologies. Managers who need to brief and supervise professional video editors. Previous experience of making videos and phone editing apps is recommended.

Course objectives

Participation on the course will provide you with the tools you need to:

  • make project-oriented decisions on the right editing solution for your needs
  • work confidently with pro level phone-based editors
  • use key frames
  • create motion based and dynamic transitions
  • creating projects
  • trimming, splitting and moving clips
  • Overlays and cutaways
  • J and L cuts
  • match and jump cuts
  • Ken Burns effect
  • green screen
  • record voiceovers/ narration
  • craft complex text and subtitles.

Note: All equipment, including phones, is provided for the course. Delegates are welcome to bring their own devices but they will need to install one of two apps, LumaFusion (iPhone/iPad, $29) or Kinemaster (Android, free).
